The airline was established on the 1st of December 2002 as Rwanda’s new national carrier under the name Rwandair Express at Kigali International Airport. In March 2009, the airline registered a new trademark called “RwandAir” which is their current operating name.
Operating from their hub in Kigali, the airline is one of the Africa’s fastest growing airlines and operates one of the youngest fleets on the continent. The airline, which is also well known for its excellent on time performance, flies to twenty-six cities in Western, Eastern, Northern and Southern Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Europe. RwandAir is a member of the International Air Transportation Association (IATA).
RwandAir’s fleet consists of the following aircraft: Four Boeing 737-800NG with 16 business and 136 economy class seats, two Boeing 737-700NG with 12 business and 108 economy class seats, two CRJ900NG with 6 business and 69 economy class seats, two Bombardier Q-400NG with 7 business and 60 economy class seats. The airline is also awaiting delivery of two new triple class Airbus A330s.
RwandAir was named as one of the world’s most improved airlines at the 2018 World’s Airlines Awards in London. The World’s Airlines Awards are seen as the “Oscars of the Aviation Industry”. The World’s Most Improved Airline is awarded to the airlines who have improved their global rating, and performance improvements in various categories including on time performance, awards programs and customer satisfaction.

Each passenger is allowed one piece of hand luggage not weighing more than 7kg.
Online check-in opens 24 before your flight departure time, and is available up to 3 hours before departure. Clients can also check in at the airport 3 hours before departure. Check in closes 45 minutes before departure.
All passengers travelling on RwandAir must be in possession of valid identification documents, passports and any visas required for international travel. Without the proper identification documentation you will not be allowed to board the flight.
RwandAir flights operate both economy and business class cabins on all their flights.
RwandAir runs an all-inclusive service. The cost of on board food and drink is included in your airfare.
