Ethiopian Airlines is the national airline of Ethiopia, headquartered at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa. The airline operates regular, scheduled international passenger and freight services to over 57 destinations around the world, and 17 domestic destinations and passenger and cargo charter flights. Ethiopian Airlines is the largest airline in Africa in terms of number of passengers carried.

Ethiopian Airlines operates a fleet of 76 aircraft with an extra 42 currently on order. The airlines operates 30 long Range passenger aircraft, all of them are built by Boeing. They also operates 21 medium range passenger aircraft that have also all been made by Boeing. The airline operates 17 DHC8-Q400 NG turboprop aircraft on their regional routes. The other 8 aircraft are used to fly cargo.
Ethiopian Airlines is making changes to its routings and schedules between Cape Town and Addis Ababa. From the 1st of July 2016 the airline will operate 4 weekly direct flights to Cape Town as well as 4 weekly flights that will be routed via Johannesburg. Currently the airline flies to Cape Town via Gaborone (4 times a week), via Johannesburg (3 times a week) and directly from Addis Ababa (twice a week). The airline also operates flights between Addis Ababa and Durban. The flights are operated on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Carry on baggage
On all Ethiopian routes you are allowed to carry only one piece of hand baggage with a maximum weight of 7kgs and measuring not more than 20x40x55cms. Excess baggage will be charged.
Checked baggage
Economy class passengers are allowed two checked bags that may weigh up to 23kg each. Business class passengers are also allowed two bags but the maximum weight per bag is 32kg.
All check-in counters are opened 3 hours before departure and counters are closed 1 hour before departure. Online check in opens 36 hours and closes 2 hours before departure.
Ethiopian Airlines offers 2 options for seating on their flights; economy class and business class. Economy has 32 inches between seats. Business class has 44-57 inches between seats.
Ethiopian airlines is an all inclusive airline. All food and drink costs are included in your airfare.
Ethiopian Airlines allows pets to be flown in the cargo hold of the plane. Passengers will need to contact the airline directly to make arrangements for pet travel.
