Latam Airlines has made operational changes to its South African flights by replacing the Boeing 767-300ER it used on the São Paulo – Johannesburg route with a newer Airbus A350-900XWB. Latam Airlines first launched the flights from Guarulhos International Airport in Sao Paulo to O. R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg at the beginning of 2016. The reason for the change in aircraft is the increase in the number of passengers travelling on the route. The new aircraft will increase the capacity of the flight by 129 seats and will cut the flight time by one hour and thirty minutes.
Economy Class passengers are allowed 2 bags, that may not weigh more than 23 kg combined. Business Class passengers are allowed 3 bags that may weigh up to 23 kg each. The maximum weight of carry on luggage for Economy class passengers is 8 kg, while Business Class passengers are allowed 16 kg of carry on luggage. Both Economy & Business class passengers are only allowed one carry on bag.
Latam Airlines offers an online check on facility which allowes passensers to check in for their flight up to 2 hours before departure through their online portal. Clients checking in at the airport are asked to arrive at least 2 hours before departure to allow enough time for check in.
Latam Airlines operates Business & Economy Class cabins on their Johannesburg – São Paulo route. The Business Class cabin on the new Airbus A350 has more space than any the previous aircraft, giving travellers a more comfortable flight experience. The new aircraft also provides travellers in Economy Class with more space in ergonomically designed seats & wider overhead lockers for storing hand luggage.
