Air Seychelles is the national airline of the island of Seychelles, and is based in Mahe. The airline operates inter-island services as well as international flights to various destinations on three major continents. The airline is based at Seychelles International Airport, and also operates a small base at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport as part of an agreement with Air France to serve its off-line European destinations.
Air Seychelles operates services to a vast array of destinations in Africa, Asia and Europe. These destinations include Mauritius, South Africa, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, France, Italy and the United Kingdom. In South Africa Air Seychelles uses their codeshare agreement with South African Airways to seamlessly connect passengers from Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, East London and Durban to the Seychelles via Johannesburg.
Air Seychelles was established in 1977 as Seychelles Airlines. The name was changed to Air Seychelles in 1978. Its first international routes were to Frankfurt and London. Air Seychelles is a government owned airline and employs 663 staff.
Air Seychelles has a fleet of 10 passenger aircraft, currently consisting of 1 Airbus A320, 2 Airbus A330-200s, 6 DHC-6 Series and 1 short 360-300. All of these are leased by Etihad Airways.
Air Seychelles celebrated a significant occasion, when it officially welcomed a brand-new Airbus A320 aircraft into its international fleet. Named “Silhouette”, after the third-largest island in the archipelago, it was welcomed by a momentous water-cannon salute when it touched down at the Seychelles International Airport.
Carry on baggage
On-board Air Seychelles, one piece checked baggage and one carry-on item is allowed free of charge. You are allowed to carry 1 bag with you on the flight for no charge. The maximum weight must not exceed 7 kg.
Check in baggage
Adults accompanying infants are entitled to check in one infant item in addition to the adult’s baggage allowance.
Online check in opens 24 hours and closes 2 hours prior to departure. Airport counters allow passengers to check in 3 hours before departure. Counters closes an hour and a half before departure.
Air Seychelles operates a two tier class option. Passengers can book flights in either economy or business class.
All food and drink on board Air Seychelles flights are complimentary.
